About a year prior to this site’s release, I felt a disturbance in the video game industry as more aspiring games that appeared promising turned sour come release. This disappointment led to resentment of the industry, and I wondered if any companies held their titles to some sort of standards. Of course there were still prospective gem titles coming out: The Orange Box, Mario Party 8, Bioshock, SSX Blur, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl; but would they be all that the hype and company reputation claimed them to be? I was not so sure.
Obviously there have always been and always will be crap games, otherwise there would be nothing to distinguish amazing titles from. But, what happens when those superior developers start releasing sub-par games? Is it because of a lapse in judgment, or perhaps it was a miss on a particular story line? I think part of it is caused by the industry’s demand. If we, the gamer consumer community, continually purchase and support games that are not as well done as they could be, the companies will continue to produce low-quality entertainment. Allowing a lower quality game a spot on the shelf will allow another of even lower quality pass by next time. I voice my opinion as a gamer critic to do my part of keeping these slacking developers in check.
There is an ever-increasing risk of wasting money purchasing under-developed games these days. I do not want to be bombarded by a horde of unsatisfying games every time I go to buy something new. We should not feel compelled to extensively research our game purchases before spending our well-earned money on entertainment. Instead of fearing about a possibly poor investment, I envision video game shopping as being an enjoyable and painless experience, during which the consumer will know that they are supporting a great company, no matter the game they choose.
This site is dedicated to all of the gamers who despise hype, believe in honestly well-developed entertainment, and are open-minded to all forms of criticism. Everyone in the world has an opinion; this website is fully comprised of mine. Enjoy.
